Coffee Martini

If you love an Espresso Martini, you have to try our Coffee Martini. This recipe is a creamier take on the classic, using brewed coffee, vodka, coffee liqueur and Irish cream liqueur. You’ll love this perfect after-dinner drink.

Ingredients in a Coffee Martini

  • Coffee – Use any brewed coffee; many ideas below.
  • Vodka – Choose a mid-priced, unflavored vodka.
  • Coffee Liqueur – Such as Kahula.
  • Irish Cream Liqueur – Such as Bailey’s.

The best glassware for this recipe is a coupe glass or a martini glass.

How to Brew Coffee

  • Chemex coffee
  • Cold brew coffee
  • French press coffee
  • Aeropress coffee
  • Use your leftover brewed coffee from your morning cup. Feel free to use decaf coffee or any coffee you love for this recipe. It’s best to refrigerate your coffee (or allow it to go to room temp) before using in this recipe.

Instructions

In a cocktail shaker with ice, pour in brewed coffee, vodka, Irish cream liqueur and coffee liqueur.

Shake for 10-15 seconds or until well chilled.

Pour into your cocktail glass. Garnish with coffee beans.

Coffee and Sugar Rim

An optional garnish for this drink is a rim made with equal parts coffee grounds and sugar. Use something a bit sticky (corn syrup, agave or honey) on the edge of your glass to create this fancy coffee rim.

Tips for Making

  • Seasonal Variations – Substitute in a flavored vodka (or Bailey’s or Kahlua) to create a pumpkin spice or a peppermint version.
  • Bailey’s Espresso Martini – If you swap the brewed coffee for espresso, this drink becomes a Bailey’s version of the Espresso Martini.
  • Garnish Ideas – Try a chocolate sauce rim, a dollop of whipped cream on the top or use coffee-flavored candies (on a cocktail pick) as your garnish.
  • If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, you can use a mason jar or any water bottle that has a tightly sealed lid.
